Gym fit is ‘only the tip of the iceberg’

The average gym membership cost $3,900 and for the second consecutive year gym membership was the most expensive item.

The cost of a membership ranged from $1,500 to $7,000, but with an average price of $4,500, it was still cheaper than the average cost of running a gym in Australia.

“Gym membership is the most cost effective way to ensure you get the full benefits of the gym, whether that be exercise, nutrition, nutrition counselling, fitness classes and fitness equipment,” gym owner, Michael Frew, told ABC Radio Hobart.

“It’s the most affordable option in terms of cost and is the one that we believe will deliver the best bang for your buck.”

He said the cost of membership varied depending on the gym type, including free weights and some free-weight classes.

The average price was $3.50 per week, while some of the cheapest gym memberships were $2,500.

“We’ve got a lot of people coming in for our classes, and they’ll be going for the whole month for a few weeks and they might not get the training they want to get,” Mr Frew said.

He said he had noticed a noticeable difference in people who came in to try his gym.

“I think it’s more about how people are getting on with their life,” he said.

He was one of several gym owners in the state who said they were seeing a drop in people coming into their gym to sign up for the new gym membership. “

So they’re getting into the gym for a couple of weeks and then they’re on the road for a month or so and then the time goes and they’ve got to go home and go to work.”

“When I started this gym, it used to be a lot more people came in,” Mr Brough said.

”It used to get a lot bigger, it had a lot better facilities, but I think now people are more cautious about it.

They don’t want to waste time, they don’t care about the time it takes to go in and get training, and there’s so much going on, it’s a bit hard to get people back.”
